Scouts Football Depth Chart: Positional Standouts Heading Into Zion Game
Week 4 is here and the Scouts are on the road to face the Zion Zee-Bees.
What will player rotations look like tonight?
Here’s how Lake Forest’s depth chart stands out at each positional group heading into tonight’s game (embedded links are to a player’s football-specific social media feed).
Quarterback
Danny Van Camp — Senior
Braden Hoskins — Junior
Sufyan Hussain — Junior
Analysis: Through the first three games, we are watching a quarterback in absolute control of the offense. Van Camp has always had the cannon arm. But high school fields are littered with triggermen who can throw the ball a country mile. It’s all the other pieces — protections, zone reads, accuracy — that separate the singular gunslingers from the complete package and we’re witnessing the latter from #7 in the first third of the season. With the man, risk/reward style Zion likes to play on defense, we may see Van Camp put up more crazy numbers tonight. Be sure to be in your seat by 7 pm Friday night. You may miss something spectacular.
Running Back
Marty Hippel — Senior
Matthew Chabraja — Senior
Owen Yates — Junior
David Carrillo — Senior
Fin Michael — Junior
Analysis: The Scouts are determined to feature Hippel as the team’s almost exclusive ball carrier. And why not? Two explosive TD’s against Warren and the previous week against Carmel, Hippel ground out the fourth quarter with inside runs. Yates, a 5-9, 160-pound junior, got into the end zone against Warren and if the Scouts pull away early Friday, we’ll likely see more of him. Carrillo a nice find at ‘F’, a program senior working his way into the lineup.
